Young mum takes on the challenge of running her own business...

Kirstin Macare a young mum of two from Norfolk is combining her passion for the Arts, with her dedication to providing high quality dance coaching, across schools and the surrounding community in East Norfolk.

Kirstin's academic background includes a BTEC in Performing Arts and BA HONS in Drama and Theatre Arts. It was during Kirstin’s studies that she developed a keen interest in contemporary dance, choreography, performance and workshop leading.

Her educational strengths include working as a Special Educational Needs teaching assistant for 4 years. Previously to this she worked with Social Services, developing confidence, independence and offering support to young people who were leaving care. Both of these roles required patience and a broad knowledge of children and young people’s learning techniques.

Her inspiration to combine these skills has come from an awareness of the lack of educational dance coaching already provided within Primary education. Being a mother of two primary school children, this awareness derives from both personal and professional experience. She believes that children and young people’s education can be enhanced by using the Arts as an enriching and rewarding tool alongside their current learning styles.

Member of dance crew joins Premier Performing Arts

Whether its popping, locking, breaking or krumping, Thomas Kilminster has had all the moves since a young boy. Now at the age of 23 he’ll be passing his dance moves on to children across Kent as he launches his very own Premier Performing Arts business.

Thomas’ passion for dance began when he was at school when his older brother started a Street Dance group in Essex. As the group got bigger he became more interested in different alternative dance styles, especially those that presented him with a fresh challenge The dance group went on to perform and compete locally and nationally  in a number of dance competitions.

After leaving school Thomas attended college for two years studying a BTEC National Diploma in Public Services, his original career path was to enlist in the British Army as a Royal Engineer a million miles away from his career today.

Thomas continued his education at University studying Sports Coaching and Physical Education. His passion for dance continued and he developed links within the dance community joining “British BBoy Association”.

The Association was set up to help communities in running dance events and charity work to support the dance community. This experience assisted Thomas in gaining a deeper understanding of how to run children’s events and furthered his education in delivering physical education to a range of ages.

After finishing University he spent a year delivering dance in a number of studios, dance schools and in his local primary schools. At this point it became clear to Thomas that his true passion was working with children.

“Last year I joined Premier Sport as an Activity Professional delivering dance; this accelerated my personal knowledge within this sector. Premier Sport’s high level training and support has seen my style of delivery, professionalism and confidence develop enormously.

Since then, my passion for dance and desire to run my own business was perfect for the opportunity that Premier Performing Arts presented me. I’m delivering dance and other performing arts into schools which is a dream come true.

The feedback I have received to date has been very positive and I am looking forward to working alongside schools delivering dance and performing arts to thousands of children."
